Charity donations
I don't make profit from the sale of my books. The first book I ever compiled was centred on a special event taking place at our local church, so when I realised that several people wanted copies, it seemed only fair for any extra money to go to much-needed church funds.
I have a few favourite charities that I will suggest, but you are very welcome to select something appropriate to your own circumstances. *
I ask you to allow an additional £2 for each copy. However, if you feel that you are able to pay more, and that your friends and family would be happy to do the same, it can be a wonderful fund-raiser for a good cause. Just let me know and I'll change the pricing on the Blurb website accordingly.
* Please note: the only time when charitable donations are not made is if I've compiled a book of somebody else's photography, and the commission goes to the photographer.
Here are two of my favourite charities:
Hearing dogs change lives. They alert their deaf owners to sounds we take for granted, providing greater independence, confidence and security. Whenever possible, the dogs are selected from rescue centres, but they are also donated by breeders and members of the public, with the remainder coming from the Charity's own breeding scheme.
Jessie's Fund is a UK charity helping seriously ill and disabled children by using music as a form of communication and for therapy.
I will distribute funds raised in this way on an annual basis.
