Sheila: a celebration
Old photographs
This book was compiled in memory of my mother's cousin. As it was created as a gift, it was not charged commercially, but this was the outline of the project.
The daughter of the deceased did all the scanning of photographs and sent them to me by email. I then edited them as required (such as cropping to matching sizes, removing red-eye and scratches) and then created the book.
Had I charged for this book, the costs would have been:
- 3 hours @ £25 per hour = £75
- Cost of book (10" x 8", 50 pages, hardback imagewrap) = £19.95
- Economy postage (approx. 2 weeks delivery) = £3.44
- Charity donation = £2
- Total = £100.39
NB: As an additional memento, I took photographs of the flowers after the cremation service; and also of the ceremony of close members of the family releasing doves in Sheila's memory. This was made into a 7" x 7", 40 page, hardbacked book, took little more than an hour to create, and completed a set of beautiful memories for the family.
Thank you so, so much for the books - they're absolutely
fantastic! When you said about doing a "scrapbook" of photos
I really didn't expect you to have gone to such lengths to get all the
photos specially printed into books. (I was expecting a Scrapbook - with
photos stuck in!)... I just love them to bits and am so pleased with them.
I have shown them to Dad's sisters and other members of his family, and
everyone is really impressed with them.
